Taipei Veterans General Hospital held a ceremony to announce the new superintendent of the hospital on the 17th, January, 2022. Incumbent superintendent, Wayne Huey-Herng Sheu(許惠恒) handed over the official seal to his successor, Chen Wei-Ming(陳威明) in the presence of Veterans Affairs Council Minister, Feng Shih-Kuan(馮世寬). The ceremony was attended by former superintendents and vice superintendents of the hospital, as well as the heads and staff of its affiliated institutions.
Dr. Chen said that his new position marked the start of a period of responsibilities and challenges, and thus he set out his "five goods" goals:
(1) to do a good job in epidemic prevention of COVID-19; (2) to take good care of patients and staff; (3) to offer good education to students and nurture more good doctors with a kind heart and good skills; (4) to create a good environment with adequate hardware and software and a good working atmosphere in the hospital; and (5) to work together with others for the good of all, such as other healthcare systems, research institutions and the industrial sectors for innovation and R&D to upgrade medical strengths.
Holding a degree in medicine from National Yang-Ming College of Medicine (now known as National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University) and being a specialist in orthopedic surgery in Taiwan, Dr. Chen served as the President of the Asia Pacific Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and was honored with the "2018 Taiwan Volunteerism Award" and the “2021 Outstanding Contribution Award to Civil Service.”
