To provide thorough medical care for multiple diseases through a unified channel, and to provide high-quality healthcare to elders, we founded the Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology (高齡醫學中心). In the beginning, we organized six development teams to integrate research, teaching, training, and policy-making, thereby promoting geriatrics and gerontology. The structure of such strategic development is based on "opening up current schemes," "launching new pilot schemes," "pushing forward by areas," and "advocating core strategies," among others. We hope to promote geriatrics and gerontology from within the hospital to beyond.
In accordance with organization restructuring, in the future, the center will turn the six development teams into two divisions - geriatrics and gerontology, and R&D and advocacy. We will also combine the Research, Education, and Clinical Studies Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology of the Veterans Affairs Councils and the Mid-term Senior Care Pilot Program Management Center of our sixth-phase medical care network, to effectively improve the efficiency of our independent system.
We will keep extending our reach in the fields of geriatrics and gerontology, while promoting and spreading medical services for elders. We want VGH to be a hub of geriatrics and gerontology, setting an example of senior care and services.
