In April 2017, TVGH's Dept. of Nuclear Medicine, Institute of Nuclear Energy Research, and Chung-Hwa Nuclear Society held the 2017 International Symposium of Radiation Emergency Management. We invited professors from Nagasaki University and local experts and scholars to give speeches on "radiation protection in Japan," "lessons from Chernobyl and Fukushima," "current status of human biological dosimetry," "biological mechanisms of low-dose radiation" and "emergency medical preparedness for radiation incidents in Taiwan," as well as to exchange ideas extensively. Learning from Japan's experiences in handling nuclear disasters, we hoped to improve the quality of medical care for radiation/nuclear-affected patients.
